IE8 passes the Acid2 Test
Posted by Paul Sturgess on December 20, 2007
Microsoft proves it has genuine intentions to make Internet Explorer 8 Web Standards compliant.
Unless you are also a web developer this will not mean much to you, but this is undoubtedly a massive statement of intent from Microsoft to support Web Standards and whether you are a web developer or not, that is a good thing.
Acid2 is a test for web browsers to see how they perform against some specific features across several different web standards. Past versions of Internet Explorer have failed miserably, making the development of web sites to work identically across multiple browsers no simple task.
Now if they could just make IE6 vanish the (web) world really would be a better place.
